Alicante is gearing up for a weekend filled with traffic disruptions in the city centre. The only vehicles allowed during the Royal Messengers and Three Kings parades will be the floats leading the processions.
The first traffic closure in Alicante's city centre is scheduled for Saturday afternoon, during the parade of the messengers collecting letters from children 24 hours before the arrival of the Three Kings.
According to the Alicante City Council, the traffic closure and parking ban will be in effect from 4 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, January 4th, in Plaza de España, Calderón de la Barca, Alfonso el Sabio, and Rambla de Méndez Núñez.

This will be the official route of the Royal Messengers' parade in Alicante, who will visit the new Explanada Square to present themselves to the children and collect their letters. Additionally, there will be closures and pre-closures on roads along the parade route.
The city will return to normal from 8 PM, although at 7 AM on Sunday, January 5th, restrictions will resume for the placement of parade chairs - which are sold out - and for the parade itself.

At that time, traffic will be prohibited on Alfonso el Sabio Avenue towards Plaza de los Luceros. However, the intersections of Ángel Lozano, Pablo Iglesias, and Calderón de la Barca will remain operational until 3 PM.
Another traffic closure will begin at 10 AM on the descending lanes of Rambla de Méndez Núñez, between Duque de Zaragoza and Rafael Altamira streets. These will continue at 2 PM on all lanes of Avenida de la Estación, between Serrano Street and Plaza de los Luceros, where the floats will gather before the Three Kings Parade.
The centre will be completely closed from 3 PM on Avenida de la Estación, the remaining lanes on Alfonso el Sabio Avenue, both towards Rambla and Plaza de los Luceros; Rambla de Méndez Núñez on its ascending lanes; and Rafael Altamira Street up to Alicante City Hall.
Parking and stopping are also prohibited on María Josefa Agreda y Muñoz Street from 6 PM on Sunday, January 5th. This restriction will be in effect until 11:59 PM, while traffic will resume on the other closed roads from 11 PM.
Neighbourhoods like La Florida have organised, through their bonfire and barraca committees, a Three Kings Parade in the district. Therefore, there will be temporary traffic closures on Vicente Chávarri, Astrónomo Comas Sola, Plaza de la Viña, Orión, Asturias, Ana Navarro, Arturo, and Avenida Club Deportivo Betis Florida streets.
Traffic closures will begin at 6:30 PM with the expectation of resuming circulation from 9 PM on Sunday, January 5th. Parking is also prohibited on these streets from two hours earlier, that is, from 4:30 PM.
The bonfire and barraca committees organising this Three Kings Parade are Florida Sur, Florida-Plaza de la Viña, La Florida, Festa i Vi, No podem fer més, and Cent i la mare.
The route of this Three Kings Parade through the La Florida neighbourhood will start at the roundabout on Vicente Chávarri Street and proceed through Astrónomo Comas Sola, Plaza de la Viña, Orión Street, Asturias Street, Ana Navarro Street, Betis Florida Avenue, and Arturo Street to Plaza Magallanes, where gifts will be distributed.
