Spring will hit the province of Alicante with full force over the coming weekend. In addition to the high temperatures, there is a possibility of rain and storms, which could be accompanied by hail.
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for rain and storms in the interior of the province for Saturday, May 3. Rainfall is expected to exceed 20 litres per square metre, and hail could strike the area in the afternoon.
The rest of the province is not exempt, as the state agency warns that rain and storms could also affect the coast.
Instability will begin on Friday, May 2, with slightly cloudy skies and suspended dust creating a haze over the province. Locally heavy rains accompanied by mud are also expected, similar to those that occurred overnight in the capital, leaving cars covered in dust. For this Friday, the Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Centre has declared a low-medium pre-emergency level for forest fire risk across the Valencian Community.
On Saturday, the sky will be cloudy in the province, and showers and storms are expected in the afternoon in the interior, with a probability approaching 100% in towns like Villena or Alcoy. The storms will arrive from Castilla La Mancha and will move towards the coast, although they will lose strength.

On Sunday, May 4, skies are expected to be partly cloudy or overcast. The possibility of showers will not completely disappear, and rain is expected in the northern half from midday. Thunderstorms cannot be ruled out during this day.
As for temperatures, they will gradually increase, approaching highs close to 30 degrees on Sunday in towns like Orihuela or Elche. Heat will be another phenomenon marking the coming days, as the province will exceed 25 degrees over the weekend in general. Although the sky may not allow for beach enjoyment, the high temperatures will also mark the day, creating a muggy feeling.
The start of the week will offer a brief respite from atmospheric instability. However, from Tuesday, Aemet has announced new episodes of rain that will affect the province of Alicante. This time, temperatures will also drop generally.
