The heat will not relent during these Hogueras. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has already announced that the coming days will be particularly hot in the province of Alicante. Even in the capital, which is celebrating the peak days of its official festivities, extreme temperatures are expected.

The toughest day will be Saturday 21st, when Aemet has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures across the coast. Thermometers could exceed 37 degrees in Alicante, with even higher values in the south of the province.

However, the foguerers will not escape the heat, despite the sea's effect in tempering the temperatures. In fact, the thermometer is expected to exceed 30 degrees on that same Saturday, with an alert included.

The high temperatures will coincide with an intense festive day, starting with the juries visiting the bonfires and continuing with the mascletà in Luceros at 2 p.m., just when the sun is at its strongest. The situation is particularly concerning due to the expected crowds, with the entire city and part of the province dedicated to the celebration.

In addition to the thousands of visitors expected this weekend, with hotels practically full, events such as the flower offering to the Virgin of Remedio are planned. The parade will lead the commissions to challenge the heat and march through the city centre in their traditional costumes.

A scorching end to the Hogueras

Although Aemet has only issued the yellow warning for Saturday, temperatures will remain high in the following days. Between June 21st and 24th, maximums in the city will exceed 30 degrees, forecasting a scorching Hogueras 2025 with record temperatures.

The good news for the festival-goers is that the anticyclone affecting the province will keep the wind and rain at bay, two phenomena feared by the commissions for the damage they can cause to the monuments.

We will have to wait until the Hogueras end for the thermometer to give Alicante residents a slight respite. Although, according to Aemet, forecasts for the last week of June are still uncertain, everything points to an extremely hot and dry summer.
