It seems that summer, at least the holiday season, is coming to an end, and with its farewell come the classic storms of late August and September. In the coming days, the province will experience rainy days, as forecasted by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
Thus, the last days of August—Friday 30th, Saturday 31st, and Sunday 1st—will arrive with partly cloudy skies, especially in the second half of the day. On the 30th, suspended dust is also expected. However, the clouds will not come alone; they will be accompanied by occasional showers and storms that are likely to subside by the afternoon. These rains will mainly affect the northern half of Alicante on this day.
Rain is also expected on Saturday and Sunday, particularly in the northern part of the province, although on Sunday it will be more widespread and even reach Vega Baja.
As for temperatures, they will undergo little change over the weekend, and it will not be until Monday that the rains are felt and maximum temperatures drop at least a bit in the province of Alicante.
A total of 17 provinces will be on alert for rain and storms this Saturday due to the possible formation of a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels), according to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). Additionally, Almería will have an alert for waves.
Specifically, rain and storm alerts will be in place for Huesca, Teruel, and Zaragoza (Aragon); Cordillera and Picos de Europa (Principality of Asturias); Liébana, Centro y Valle de Villaverde and Cantabria del Ebro (Cantabria); Burgos, León, Palencia, Segovia, and Soria (Castile and León); Cantabrian slope of Navarra, Central Navarra, Navarrese Pyrenees, and Ribera del Ebro in Navarra (Foral Community of Navarra); Álava (Basque Country); and Ribera del Ebro in La Rioja and Iberian Rioja (La Rioja).
Furthermore, there will be alerts only for storms in Ávila and Valladolid (Castile and León); Guadalajara (Castile-La Mancha); Sierra de Madrid, Metropolitan Area and Henares, South, Vegas and West (Community of Madrid).
It is anticipated that two Atlantic troughs will overlap in the northwest of the Peninsula potentially forming a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels). Generally speaking, abundant medium and high cloudiness is expected along with daytime evolution cloudiness. Early in the day, AEMET has indicated that scattered showers and storms are likely in central and northern parts of the Peninsula, which will cease from south to north but may be locally strong in central areas and northeastern interiors.
In the afternoon, showers accompanied by some storms are possible in interior parts of northern and eastern halves of the Peninsula; these are more probable and intense in central areas as well as northwestern and northeastern interiors, even locally strong in northwestern interiors. In the Cantabrian area, cloudy skies are expected without ruling out light to moderate precipitations locally.
Meanwhile, regarding archipelagos: in Balearic Islands medium to high clouds without precipitation are forecasted; in Canary Islands low cloudiness is expected in northern parts of islands with probable precipitations on mountainous areas while remaining mostly clear elsewhere.
