A new storm, the third of the year 2025, threatens the province of Alicante for the weekend. Snow will return to the peaks of the highest mountains, as it did last weekend with the Gaoré storm or during the first 'dana' of the year on January 17, which left Siberian landscapes. The Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warns that by Friday a 'corridor of winds' from the interior of the European continent, therefore frigid, could form, causing a drop in temperatures by dragging a mass of cold air. The temperature drop will be most noticeable during the daytime values.
Weekend: 🌧️probable precipitation in the far north of the peninsula, Mediterranean coast and Balearic Islands; in the far northeast of the peninsula, precipitation could be snow ❄️at low altitudes.

Over the weekend, this thermal drop would extend to much of the territory and night temperatures will plummet. Thus, frosts would intensify and affect more areas. The most likely precipitation could occur in the Mediterranean area, especially on Saturday. The snow level drops to 900 meters on Saturday and 400 on Sunday in areas like Ibi or Alcoi, where minimums are in negative values. Villena will reach up to 4 degrees below zero, according to Aemet forecasts.

During the week, there will be more stable weather. However, temperatures will be cold at dawn and early morning, with frosts in wide areas of the interior and a milder atmosphere in the early afternoon. Frosts are expected in much of the interior of the eastern Peninsula, with records between -2 and -4 degrees Celsius in cities of the eastern interior. During the day, temperatures will generally hover around 18 degrees in Mediterranean points.
With these forecasts, the Alicante City Council prepares for the arrival of polar cold. The Emergency Response Teams of the Red Cross have been mobilized at the municipal request to provide care and service to homeless people in the municipal shelter.

The service begins this Monday at 8 p.m. and will remain active until Wednesday, according to the humanitarian organization. However, authorities will decide, depending on the weather, if it continues for more days.
It is most likely, as models predict that a mass of frigid air, polar or Arctic continental, will cross the European continent to reach the Peninsula and Balearic Islands by Saturday, causing a widespread thermal drop. This colder air from the interior of the European continent will intensify the storm.
