The province of Alicante is preparing to receive a DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) or cold drop starting Sunday, which could bring up to 100 liters per square meter in the Mediterranean area during the next week, according to MeteOrihuela. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) expects widespread and intense precipitation in the Mediterranean area.

This DANA will be located over the Peninsula during the weekend. Meanwhile, easterly winds in the Mediterranean will favor the arrival of a large amount of moisture to the eastern Peninsula at the beginning of next week. From Monday, there will be heavy or very heavy showers and storms, locally persistent in parts of the Mediterranean area, more likely during Tuesday.

However, although "there is still great uncertainty about the exact location of the highest accumulations," according to AEMET, "it is possible that in parts of the Mediterranean area there will be heavy, or very heavy, and locally persistent showers and storms, more likely during Tuesday 29."

The evolution of the DANA will determine the weather next week. Right now, the most likely scenario is that throughout Monday, the depression will move towards the southwest of the Peninsula until it is located in the Gulf of Cádiz.

AEMET warns of the unpredictability of this atmospheric situation, so the start of the most adverse episode could be brought forward to late Monday. Currently, the forecast is that from Monday, low pressures will be generated on the surface in North Africa, which from Tuesday will phase with the low at height in the Gulf of Cádiz, where the epicenter of the DANA is located, inducing a humid easterly flow over the Valencian Community.

While multiple scenarios arise regarding its location, there is great uncertainty about the affected areas. It is possible that heavy showers and storms will continue during Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October, but it is still not possible to pinpoint exact areas. The various scenarios agree that the episode will continue at least until Thursday, but some extend it until Saturday, November 2.
