Weather Alert in Alicante: Aemet Issues Yellow Warning for Strong Winds in the Province

Strong winds are expected in the province of Alicante, with particularly fierce gusts in the interior and southern coast. This Saturday's winds will precede the arrival of a cold air mass, which will begin to lower temperatures from Sunday. Before the onset of frosts expected to last all week, the Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a yellow alert for winds reaching up to 70 kilometres per hour.

Aemet has forecasted westerly and northwesterly winds to blow throughout the day until late afternoon. These gusts will prevent any potential precipitation despite the cloudy skies. The risk of rain is negligible, according to the state agency's forecast.

Temperatures will be almost spring-like, reaching up to 23 degrees Celsius in Alicante, according to Aemet. This is an opportunity to enjoy the weather before a gradual decline begins on Sunday, continuing throughout the week.

Maximum temperatures will drop by 6 to 8 degrees on Sunday. Highs will be around 15 degrees, although lows will fall below zero in the province's interior. The Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Centre expects low temperatures both inland and along the coast of the Valencian Community, with values around -4 degrees in some inland areas and about 0 degrees on the coast.

The Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response advises municipalities and organisations responsible for social and health services to maintain necessary attention and monitoring of the situation, especially for at-risk groups (elderly people living alone, families in precarious situations, people with chronic illnesses), and to be aware of the road network's condition due to possible ice patches.
