The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has issued a warning to drivers via its official account on X (@DGTes), urging them to exercise extreme caution on the roads.
The warning is due to forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), which has activated alerts for storms and high temperatures in various parts of the country throughout today.
In light of this meteorological instability, the DGT has requested citizens to check traffic conditions before embarking on any journey.
This recommendation is crucial to avoid incidents and ensure road safety, as storms can drastically reduce visibility and traction, while extreme heat can affect both the vehicle and the driver's performance.
Caution becomes a key factor in preventing accidents under these conditions. The DGT emphasizes the importance of adjusting speed to road conditions, increasing the safety distance, and, in case of heavy rain or hail, finding a safe place to stop if visibility is too low. To manage the heat, it is advised to ensure good hydration and take frequent breaks.
📢⚠️ Precaución, hay avisos de la @AEMET_Esp por tormentas 🌧️, al igual que por altas temperaturas 🌡️ a lo largo de la jornada de hoy.

Drivers are advised to use the DGT's official information channels, such as its website, mobile application, or the 011 phone line, to stay updated on real-time traffic incidents and potential restrictions or diversions caused by weather conditions.
Being informed is the best tool for planning a safe journey and avoiding unpleasant surprises.
