Volvo S90: More Elegant and Comfortable Than Ever

Volvo Cars has unveiled the new S90, which is more elegant and comfortable than ever, packed with high-end design and technology updates, and available in hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants.

It features significant updates to its exterior and interior design, along with a comprehensive technological overhaul that aligns with the Swedish brand's vision towards full electrification.

The exterior design of the new S90 showcases a modern and sophisticated image, reflecting Volvo Cars' transition towards a fully electric future.

The flowing lines and aerodynamic silhouette are accentuated by a more graphic and bold front grille, flanked by the iconic Thor's hammer-shaped headlights, now more streamlined and featuring Matrix LED design technology for optimal lighting in any situation. The rear also receives an update with new lights that harmoniously integrate with the overall design. Additionally, the S90 debuts a sculpted hood, a new bumper, and redesigned front fenders.

Inside, the refreshed cabin elevates the luxury experience with new high-quality materials and enhanced features, highlighting Volvo's philosophy of human-centric technology. The main novelty is the integration of Volvo Cars' next-generation user interface, which will extend across the entire range. This interface, designed for safe and enjoyable interaction with the infotainment system, is now noticeably faster and more dynamic. A new standalone 11.2-inch central screen enhances the visual and tactile experience, while over-the-air (OTA) software updates ensure the vehicle remains up-to-date and improves over time.

In terms of mechanics, the new S90 is offered as a plug-in hybrid, acting as an electric vehicle with an efficient backup plan. With a single charge, it offers a fully electric range of up to 80 kilometres according to the WLTP test cycle**, allowing many drivers to complete their daily commutes without generating exhaust emissions. Volvo Cars' data reveals that approximately half of the distance covered by its latest plug-in hybrids is done using only electric power. The S90 will also be available in a mild hybrid version, equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and front-wheel drive, combining generous power with high efficiency.

Erik Severinson, Director of Product and Strategy at Volvo Cars, highlighted the model's importance: "The S90 will be a key part of our product portfolio for the coming years in some of our Asian markets. Alongside the new fully electric ES90, the new S90 ensures a complete and attractive offering for customers who value safety and wish to drive a large and elegant Volvo sedan."

True to its reputation, safety remains a priority for Volvo Cars. The new S90 incorporates an advanced safety cabin and a comprehensive suite of active safety features. The Pilot Assist system facilitates driving on both highways and single-lane roads, maintaining a preset speed, adapting to traffic, and offering smooth steering assistance to keep the vehicle centred in its lane.

To facilitate customisation, the new S90 offers a wide range of exterior colours, including two new metallic shades: Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red. Additionally, new diamond-cut alloy wheels enhance the vehicle's elegant and powerful character. For added comfort, the S90 comes standard with improved acoustic insulation and advanced adaptive suspension.

Customers in China will be able to place their orders for the new Volvo S90 this summer, and it will subsequently be available in other markets globally.
