Virtuós Mediterrani is on a roll. The Alicante orchestra is currently on a symphonic tour across Spain, accompanying Celtas Cortos with their 'Solos ante el peligro'. This collaboration, conceived in Alicante, is gearing up to reach one of the most prestigious musical venues, the Kursaal in San Sebastián.
This Saturday, 1st February, the fusion of these groups will land in Donostia to reinterpret great hits and "hidden gems" from the Celtas Cortos repertoire, with arrangements by maestro Gerardo Estrada, who leads the show, performed by the musicians of Virtuós Mediterrani.
The tour, 'Solos ante el peligro', has already made three stops, starting at the Auditorio de La Nucía before heading to Cartagena and Lleida, with San Sebastián and its Kursaal in sight.
So far, the Alicante chamber orchestra expresses euphoria and satisfaction with the results of this collaboration on the album 'El mundo del revés'. After each concert, they have conversed with attendees, who have described the experience as "an exciting and moving spectacle".
The fresh contribution from Virtuós Mediterrani has given "a new life" to the already original sound of the Valladolid band, as demonstrated by audience comments and attendance figures, according to their director, Gerardo Estrada.
The grand event will be this Saturday at the Kursaal in San Sebastián, "one of the most significant points of the tour", which includes 22 venues, among them the Teatro Principal de Alicante on 3rd April. Regarding the Donostia auditorium, Virtuós Mediterrani celebrates performing "in one of the most renowned stages in Spain, where the greatest national and international performers have played".
This venue is "a very loyal place to the music of Celtas Cortos" and they hope to meet and exceed expectations through the new collaboration with Virtuós Mediterrani. "The audience eagerly awaits the curtain to rise for the music in this union of forces that is gradually conquering stages and audiences across the country," Estrada notes.
All these performances, along with those planned for their fourth season, are a "great opportunity" for the Alicante orchestra, which "demonstrates the talent and discipline with which work is done in these lands".
The rhythm does not stop among the instruments of Virtuós Mediterrani, as their regular concert season perfectly aligns with the tour. "We are experiencing days of feverish and thrilling activity", with another date on 13th February at 8 pm at the Real Liceo Casino de Alicante, featuring music by Chopin and Tchaikovsky and pianist Rae Pung, specially coming from Singapore.
