A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Elche for violently assaulting a Local Police officer. The incident occurred on Ruperto Chapí Street at midnight.

A patrol of the Local Police of Elche was patrolling the area when an officer noticed a vehicle with a broken rear light, improperly parked in a prohibited area.

Due to the traffic violation, the officers requested the driver's documentation, but he began - according to the police report - to act very agitated and aggressive throughout.

One of the officers suspected the driver might be under the influence of some substance, so he proceeded to conduct a drug detection test.

When refusing to take the test, the 41-year-old man further increased his aggression to the point of lunging at one of the officers and hitting him. Even when restrained, he continued to offer significant active and violent resistance.

As a result, the Local Police of Elche arrested the 41-year-old man for a suspected offense of assault against law enforcement officers and took him to police custody.
