Villena's agricultural company, Molina Azorín, one of the leading cherry producers nationally, unveiled its expansion plans this Thursday to the mayor during a visit to the company's facilities. Fulgencio Cerdán learned firsthand about the growth plans of a company that employs 260 people.
Molina Azorín plans to increase its cherry production from one million kilos per year to about four million, cultivating them on 150 hectares. The Villena company's forecast is to expand its workforce in the short term and establish itself as the main cherry distributor for one of Spain's leading supermarket chains.
In addition to producing cherries, the company carries out the sorting process, dividing the fruit by quality and size, and packaging it in different formats to meet the demands as a supplier to a supermarket chain and its market clients.
Cerdán believes that Molina Azorín exemplifies a primary sector company capable of adapting to the times, growing, and improving. "This type of company very well expresses the sentiment of Villena: proud of our land, our origins, and our future."
