The Villena City Council has issued, as previously announced, an ordinance regulating the use of fireworks during the Moors and Christians festival. This measure is part of the campaign «-Fireworks + Respect and + Safety» launched in collaboration with the Local Police to prevent incidents, enhance safety, and respect neighborhood coexistence.

The ordinance aims to improve coexistence during the patronal festival period. Given the significant increase in recent years in the excessive use of pyrotechnic devices, it has become necessary to regulate their use and delineate specific areas where they can be used , to strike a balance between respecting the rest of the city and ensuring greater safety for those who use them.

These regulations will commence on August 31st and will remain in effect until September 10th. They specify the streets where the use of pyrotechnic devices is prohibited due to high public attendance, size, etc., and set the hours during which they can be used in other parts of the municipality: from 10 AM to 2 PM and from 6 PM to 11 PM.
