Vandalism has consequences in Villena. The capital of Alto Vinalopó experienced a night full of vandalistic acts against its historical heritage. The Local Police have arrested three people as alleged perpetrators of the graffiti on the back facade of the museum.
The three individuals were discovered by the officers behind the electro-flour building, headquarters of the Villena Museum and a building listed as a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), while they were graffitiing its walls.

The alleged perpetrators of the graffiti were taken into custody by the Civil Guard, whose officers have initiated the appropriate proceedings to inform the Court of Instruction, which was on duty, about the events.
With this incident, other acts of vandalism also occurred in Villena during the night. Throughout Thursday morning, more damage was discovered in the municipality, including graffiti on the main door of the Tourist Office and Visitor Reception.
At the same time, there are also reports of damage to a traffic light on one of Villena's main streets. The municipal Services brigade has already replaced some of the other damages caused, such as a bollard that was torn from its structure.
The Councilor for Local Police, Sergio Palao, lamented these episodes that «attack all citizens, since they are owned by everyone, we all pay for them, and they provide a service to society as a whole. It is important to raise awareness about the value of public elements and the need to respect them.«
He also noted that «it is important to explain to the entire population, especially to younger people, that certain attitudes and behaviors have severe judicial and administrative consequences. But it is not about living under the threat of rules but about fostering a sense of respect for things, spaces, and public services.«
