Villena's Local Government Board has approved the awarding of the Road Maintenance and Conservation contract to the company Pavasal, which submitted a bid of 512,000 euros. This service, aimed at improving the asphalt of streets and roads, will be executed over a two-year period, according to the government team.

The Councillor for Procurement, Javier Martínez, explained that this new contract includes improvements such as the creation of 13 new speed reducers, known as "sleeping policemen," along with their horizontal and vertical signage. Additionally, the company will provide up to 140 tonnes of bituminous mix for patching the surfaces of other roads and streets within the municipal area.

The tender was initially offered at a price of nearly 900,000 euros, including VAT, and was awarded with a 31.16% reduction from the starting price, according to municipal sources.

Modernisation of the city

Martínez believes that this contract will allow the continued improvement of streets and roads in Villena over the next two years, as part of the city's modernisation policy. "An initiative from recent years involving comprehensive reform of public spaces and improvement of basic services such as the underground water network, which has been undertaken at various points in the city to modernise infrastructure over 50 years old," he highlights.

Regarding the pavement of streets and roads, the Councillor for Procurement also states that it is among the government's priorities, similar to the service for repairing sidewalks.
