Villarreal vs Espanyol has been suspended minutes before the match was set to begin due to a red alert issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) in the province of Castellón.
The LaLiga matchday 26 fixture has been postponed despite both teams having trained on the pitch at La Cerámica just an hour before the scheduled start. However, due to persistent rain and the risk of flooding, the teams were informed in the locker room that the match would not take place. Additionally, fans present in the stadium left after the decision was announced over the public address system.
According to both teams, the date and time for the rescheduled match will be announced "shortly."
