One of the Victims in the Ibi Explosion Played for a Futsal Team

Alongside Steven and Marcelo, José Manuel Jiménez is one of the three fatalities of the tragic explosion at an industrial warehouse in Ibi last Wednesday. As reported by this media outlet, it was already known that he was from Xixona and that he and his partner were expecting a child in a few months.

Two days after the tragedy, the Valencian Community Football Federation revealed that Jiménez played for the first team of a futsal club. It is the Club Deportivo Trotamundos Jijona.

"The regional futsal is in mourning. On behalf of the Valencian Community Football Federation, its president, Salva Gomar, wishes to express our deepest condolences for the passing of player José Manuel Jiménez," the Federation explained through its website.

Of the various injured left by the explosion, three remain hospitalized at the General Hospital of Alicante (two of them) and at the La Fe Hospital in Valencia. One of the three is in critical condition due to severe burns caused by the boiler explosion at the Climber SA factory.

Both José Manuel and Steven were employees of this company, while Marcelo was a truck driver, and at the time of the explosion, he was in an adjacent warehouse where the incident occurred.
