The City Council of San Vicente del Raspeig has unanimously agreed on an institutional declaration by all municipal groups, ratifying the municipality's support for maintaining the Medical studies, taught at the University of Alicante. The mayor, the popular Pachi Pascual, expressed his «satisfaction» after learning of the conclusion reached by all parties: «This City Council has always shown its support for the University of Alicante, as we understand that we must stand by an academic institution that is an educational, social, and economic engine for San Vicente.»

The manifesto, which recognizes «the value and importance of continuing the degree,» will be presented at the plenary session next Wednesday, September 25. All municipal groups will vote in favor after the consensus previously agreed upon in the spokespersons' board.

Among the reasons that led to the general agreement is the importance of the University of Alicante for the municipality and its socioeconomic impact, «as the Medical Degree not only improves the local healthcare sector but also attracts talent and boosts research in areas such as aging, nutrition, and rehabilitation.»

Additionally, all spokespersons agreed on «the current and future need for healthcare professionals, as Spain is currently facing a shortage of doctors.» They also highlighted «the UA's tradition in health sciences, so recovering Medicine demonstrates the institution's commitment to training and research in this field.»

Finally, after agreeing to approve the institutional declaration, once the text is validated by the plenary session, it will be forwarded to the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana, to the Plenary of the Valencian Courts, to the rector of UA and her team, and to UA's Social Council.
