San Vicente launches campaign to inform residents about organic waste container usage

San Vicente del Raspeig, through the Department of Urban Services, is taking a further step in selective waste collection by providing new brown bins for organic waste. These bins can be accessed by all citizens who request a key, promoting responsible waste sorting.

The Department of Services and Maintenance has launched an informative and awareness campaign aimed at those interested in using these containers. A stand will be set up in the Town Hall lobby to address inquiries on June 17, 23, 25, and 30, from 12 to 2 PM. This initiative, which began this week, aims to acknowledge and facilitate the participation of those demonstrating an active commitment to sustainability, according to municipal sources.

Along with the key, users will receive a package of compostable bags for organic waste and a bin for home use, serving as a trash can to aid in waste separation.

This model aims to ensure the quality of the collected organic fraction, which is fundamental for it to be properly utilised and separated from other materials at home. The goal is to improve environmental impact and reduce treatment costs, potentially affecting future waste fees.

The brown bins, accessible and compliant with regulations and citizens' needs, are available at certain city locations and will be expanded to promote an efficient organic waste collection system throughout the municipality. Large producers and city schools already have keys for their use.
