Ingeniero José Ramón García Antón square has been chosen as the location to inaugurate a new network of free-to-use refrigerated water fountains in San Vicente del Raspeig. The fountains have been installed at four key points in the municipality, including Vicente Savall Avenue, Horts dels Lleons square, the Sports City, and Ingeniero José Ramón García Antón.
The initiative, driven by Aguas de Alicante and the San Vicente del Raspeig City Council, was presented at noon by the mayor, Pachi Pascual, accompanied by the Environment Councillor, Mercedes Torregrosa, and from Aguas de Alicante, its general director, Sergio Sánchez; the area delegate in San Vicente del Raspeig, Eduardo Dauder; as well as the Laboratory Manager, David Ribes.
The mayor has invited all citizens to use the fountains "which will provide a good service to stay hydrated, especially when temperatures begin to rise." Pascual also hinted that the City Council is considering requesting an expansion of this network "which, in addition to promoting the consumption of tap water, avoids the generation of plastics, which is currently a global issue."
Sergio Sánchez, on his part, highlighted that "the water offered to the citizens in San Vicente, which has full sanitary guarantee and high quality, is the same that supplies these fountains made available by the municipality to all those who need it." The general director of Aguas also requested "the necessary citizen collaboration to care for and maintain these dispensers in optimal conditions."
In the same vein, the mayor expressed gratitude to Aguas de Alicante "for their support in this project and many others with which we aim to promote the good use of water as a vital and very scarce resource." Pascual recalled the work being done in many green spaces to implement more efficient irrigation systems and confirmed that "we will continue working in other areas of the municipality with this same objective."
