San Vicente del Raspeig City Council has definitively ratified the 2025 budget, amounting to 56.6 million euros, a month after the initial approval of the municipal budget. The plenary session convened this morning to approve, with the support of the PP and Vox, the rejection of claims submitted against this document for non-compliance with the Local Government Finance Act, Article 170.2.

The Intervention Department confirmed the submission of three appeals, one by the spokesperson of the Esquerra Unida-Podemos group, Alberto Beviá, and the other two on behalf of the Pino Holandeses-Boqueres and Gatos en la Costa associations. The responsible councillor, Pablo Quintana, explained that "none of the claims are based on the grounds provided by the law, therefore, there is no basis for debate."

Quintana lamented that the EU-UP group's proposal "was not submitted in due time, when it could have been debated, but it seems they were forced to present it after a budget was passed without a single proposal from the left."

The head of Intervention also responded to criticisms of the EU-UP and PSOE budget, describing the accusations made by the socialist spokesperson, Asunción París, regarding the plenary session's call as "shameful and hypocritical." Quintana reminded that the extraordinary session "is convened because two associations and EU-UP have submitted proposals," referring to the Government team's obligation to definitively approve the budget through the established procedure.

Quintana addressed the socialist formation, stating that "it is shameful to talk about the budget without bringing a single proposal, because EU-UP has done some work, albeit late, but where is yours? I haven't seen it, just a couple of comments, a couple of criticisms, and demagoguery."

Meanwhile, Mayor Pachi Pascual intervened during the plenary to remind the socialist spokesperson of the legal obligation to resolve the appeals submitted to the budget "in the only way possible, which is to convene a plenary session."

The mayor reprimanded París for "exceeding" in her criticisms, "not working" on drafting amendments to the budget, and, additionally, in reference to the urban waste tax, "they are not telling the truth because, from the beginning, in the informative committees, before you submitted the appeals, you were told that the Government team was working to incorporate cadastral references into the water bills."

Pascual concluded the debate by reminding the formations that the time to introduce changes to the budget is through amendments "and some could have been accepted," confirming the political will to do so. In this regard, he mentioned last year's exercise as an example, when "they were submitted late and, despite this, some were accepted, and it is possible that this year some could have been accepted as well."
