San Vicent del Raspeig's 9th October Literary Creation Awards in Valencian, organised by the Town Hall, are introducing a new category this year. It is the youth short story category, which will be endowed with 600 euros. The thirty-third edition of the contest is open to authors of works in Valencian, who can submit their proposals until 31st July.

In addition to the new features, this year the traditional poetry and narrative awards in Valencian are maintained, with 1,500 euros and 2,000 euros respectively for the winning writers and 500 and 600 euros for the finalists in each of these categories.

The contest distributes prizes of 1,500 euros and 2,000 euros to the best works of poetry and narrative respectively

The Councillor for Culture, Oscar Lillo, has encouraged participation in the 9th October Awards "with which, from the Town Hall, we want to promote literary creativity and, this year, with a special incentive to motivate the youngest and recognise their literary talent through original works that promote culture in Valencian."

Conditions for participation

Anyone interested can participate by submitting original and unpublished works, written in Valencian and not awarded in previous editions. All works must be submitted anonymously. As a novelty, in the youth short story category, aimed at authors up to 20 years old, a short story of between 2 and 5 pages with a theme related to the municipality of San Vicente del Raspeig, its history, culture, traditions or characters is included.

In the general categories, works can address any theme, but in the narrative category dedicated to the Writer Grácia Jiménez, they must have a length of between 20 and 100 pages, and for the poetry category Poeta Lluís Alpera, between 10 and 40 pages.

Participants can submit one or more works of their choice, which will be carefully analysed by a specialised jury to ensure quality and literary merit. Evaluators will assess originality, presentation, and expression and clarity of ideas. The formal award ceremony will take place on 8th October 2025, at 19:30, in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall of San Vicente.
