Verónica Amat and Rosa Bustos Appointed as New Director and Deputy Director of Nursing at Sant Joan d'Alacant Hospital

Verónica Amat and Rosa Bustos have been appointed as the new Director and Deputy Director of Nursing at Sant Joan d'Alacant Hospital. According to a press release from the Health Department, both have extensive experience in public healthcare and a strong commitment to improving care and healthcare management.

Verónica Amat, with 34 years of experience in the healthcare sector, has spent most of her career in surgical and critical care areas. For 18 years, she has held various management positions and has also served as an associate professor and student tutor. Her education includes a specialist course in nursing research and a master's degree in human resources from Juan Carlos I University in Madrid and the Business School of the Faculty of Economics.

Since late 2023, Amat has been serving as Deputy Director of Nursing and now succeeds Inmaculada Ávalos, who has retired after a distinguished career at the hospital. Amat approaches this new challenge with the intention of forming a cohesive team with Rosa Bustos, promoting a work environment based on empathy and teamwork. "We want professionals to feel they are part of a great project, which is public healthcare and the care of our patients," she emphasized.

For her part, Rosa María Bustos, with 21 years of service at Sant Joan d'Alacant Hospital, has spent most of her career in the Internal Medicine ward. Over the past four years, she has served as a supervisor of this unit and has a solid background in healthcare management, with multiple courses and four postgraduate degrees, as well as a master's in nursing management and another in healthcare management.

Bustos takes on her new role with the firm belief that "caring for staff is essential to ensuring the best care for patients." Her management approach is based on humanization and empathy, key elements for the well-being of the nursing team and, consequently, the patients.
