In the first four months of the year, the market accumulated 377,889 units sold, representing a 12.2% growth compared to the same period last year. However, the market remains 13% below 2019 levels, prior to the pandemic.
Sales of electrified vehicles (BEV+PHEV) recorded 15,957 new units, with a strong increase of 79% in April. Despite the Easter holiday falling in April this year, unlike last year when it was at the end of March, the market has continued its positive trend, marking its eighth consecutive month of growth. Both the sales of vehicles in the DANA zone, boosted by the Reinicia Auto+ plan, and the significant increase in the electrified market following the confirmation of the MOVES plan have contributed to this improvement compared to last year.
Regarding sales by channel, all have increased this month. Private sales reached 39,669 units, a 5.6% increase. Corporate sales achieved 30,707 new sales, a 5.1% rise. The rental market grew by 11.5%, with 28,146 units sold.
In April, registrations of industrial vehicles, buses, coaches, and minibuses recorded a new decline, with 2,567 sales, representing a 23.6% drop. For the year to date, they total 10,702 units, a 14.3% decrease from 2024. By vehicle type, both industrial vehicles and buses and coaches have declined. Industrial vehicles fell by 25.4%, with 2,150 units, and buses and coaches recorded a 13.3% decrease, with 417 sales.
Registrations of light commercial vehicles increased by 1.3% in April, with 15,904 units. For the year to date, 58,456 sales have been accumulated, a 9.2% increase. Regarding sales by channel, only the rental sector managed to grow, with a 25.5% increase and 3,249 sales. Meanwhile, both corporate and self-employed sales declined by 6.5% and 2.7%, respectively.
The average CO2 emissions of cars sold in April fell again to 108.1 grams of CO2 per kilometre, 9.1% lower than the average emissions of new cars sold in the same month of 2024. In the cumulative total for 2025, average emissions stand at 110.2 grams of CO2 per kilometre, 6.2% less than in the first four months of 2024.
