May has concluded with a new record for international tourism in the Valencian Community, reaching nearly 1.2 million foreign travellers. This number has also led the region to record the highest spending figures.
According to the latest data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), the Valencian Community welcomed 1,197,429 foreign tourists, generating a total expenditure of 1.391 billion euros, marking an increase of 4.94% compared to the same month in 2024.
Moreover, each foreign tourist spent 1,162 euros during May, with the average daily expenditure per person reaching 133 euros, and an average trip duration of 8.7 days, 4.2% higher than in May 2024.
The Regional Minister of Tourism, Marián Cano, highlighted these historic figures for the region: "They are the highest for a May in the Valencian Community, reflecting positive progress and demonstrating the destination's positioning in the international market."
Cano also emphasised that "beyond the increase in visitor numbers, the most significant aspect is the greater growth in spending." The tourism head noted that "this is one of the important qualitative trends we aim to maintain."
In this regard, Cano stressed that, through the Valencian Community Tourism Department, "we are working intensively to ensure tourism is an economic driver throughout the year." Therefore, "we will continue to work on promoting the Valencian Community to maintain and enhance this growth in the coming months," added the Regional Minister.
The data encourages optimism in the first five months of the year. On the brink of summer and with only two high season periods, the figures surpass those of the same period last year. The results from the first five months of 2025, according to the same Tourist Movements at Borders (Frontur) and Tourist Expenditure Survey (Egatur), show that the Valencian Community received 4,441,582 international tourists, 6.32% more than in the same period of 2024.
The total expenditure in these five months amounts to 5.384 billion euros, an increase of 7.5%, always with the previous year as a reference.
