La Comunitat is aiming to replicate the tourism success of 2024. The figures have been remarkable, driven by foreign visitors who have consistently surpassed 2023 numbers month after month. By the end of the year, nearly 30 million visitors were recorded in the Comunitat.
These figures are expected to be exceeded by 4% in 2025, as presented by Tourism Minister Marián Cano this Wednesday at the opening day of Fitur. The Generalitat's head of tourism emphasised the region's strong position and assured that the outlook for the coming year is "positive."
It is anticipated that the "record number" of tourists from 2024 will be surpassed, with a 6% increase in average tourist spending per visitor in 2025. Once again, foreign tourism will be a major driver for the upcoming year, with international markets experiencing a significant 15% growth, while domestic visitors remain stable.

The United Kingdom, with nearly 2.8 million visitors, is the region's main market, followed by France with 2.12 million tourists, and the Nordic countries, approaching one million. Notably, the Nordic market, which includes Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, has grown by over 18.2%, the highest among major markets.
This group's rise is significant as they are the highest spenders per traveller, with nearly 1,626 euros per person, an increase of 133.1% compared to 2023. "Once again, we are witnessing a record year for tourism in our Comunitat," commented the minister during her address, highlighting the 10% increase in air capacity at the main airports in the Comunitat, thanks to a new record at Alicante-Elche terminal.
"The number of visitors, average spending, and air capacity are three key indicators reflecting the policies implemented by the Consell," stated Cano, who emphasised the Comunitat's role as a "leader in the tourism sector" while inviting tourists to "visit our destination." The minister announced a 12 million euro investment in tourism promotion activities to surpass these figures.
Looking ahead to 2025, a 2% increase in sector employment is also anticipated. "The rise in employment is significant as this sector accounts for 16% of our economy's GDP," Cano noted. The figures are "positive," with expectations to reach 288,900 employed in the sector next year.
During the data presentation, the minister outlined key elements of the tourism roadmap for the Comunitat. Sustainability is joined by innovation and personalisation as attractions for new tourists, with new leisure activities, conferences, and more sustainable transport methods to reach the destination.
The Comunitat inaugurated its Fitur stand at 10 am in Pavilion 7 of Ifema. With white and blue tones, the hotel association opened the presentations in the central plaza of the venue. It was the first of 264 total presentations to be held at the stand, 55 of which will take place in the central plaza, along with 61 showcookings.
A record participation is expected with over 317 companies under the Generalitat's umbrella. "We have focused on transporting visitors to the Comunitat, with our brightness, the blue and sand of the beach, or the scents of orange groves, we want to highlight our land," expressed Minister Marián Cano.
