Urbanova Clinic Open Until September 15 to Meet Healthcare Demand

Tourist influx to coastal areas of Alicante province necessitates the reinforcement of healthcare services by the administration. These measures are part of the Summer Vacation and Reinforcement Plan initiated by the Health Department, including the activation of auxiliary clinics and health centres. One such facility is the Urbanova auxiliary clinic, under the Alicante-Hospital General Health Department, operational until September 15 to bolster healthcare in this coastal area.

This beach clinic, affiliated with the Babel health centre, is activated each summer from early July to mid-September, coinciding with a significant population increase. "With this resource, we ensure that residents and visiting users have access to nearby and efficient healthcare during the holiday period," stated Cristina Brocal, the Primary Care Medical Director.

The centre is equipped with a waiting room, treatment room, and three consultation rooms: one for Medicine, another for Nursing, and a third auxiliary room, all furnished with the necessary medical equipment to cater to chronic and emergency patients.

The healthcare team at this clinic includes a family doctor, Patricia Cervantes; a nurse, María Belén Escudero; and an administrative assistant, Carmen Bernal, all committed to providing excellent care to users.

In these initial days of operation, the most common consultations have been related to otitis, conjunctivitis, respiratory infections, and weever fish stings. Additionally, a significant portion of care focuses on monitoring and managing patients with chronic conditions.

The centre operates from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM, and after this time, the Alicante-Sur Health Care Point (PAS) opens for emergency services.

The Urbanova clinic, along with the San Gabriel clinic, are healthcare facilities linked to the Babel health centre, collectively serving over 22,000 users, in addition to the transient summer population in the Urbanova coastal area.
