Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor will continue playing for Barcelona for the remainder of the season. The Higher Sports Council (CSD) has upheld the appeal filed by the Catalan club to maintain their licenses and keep them registered. The body, chaired by Juan Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, considers the decision of the monitoring committee of the FEF-League coordination agreement on January 4, which according to the club cancelled the licenses of both players, to be null and void.
The CSD had already granted a provisional measure to the Catalan club allowing them to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor until a final decision was made. However, on Wednesday, LaLiga decided to take action against Barça by reducing the salary cap of the Catalan squad. According to the association led by Javier Tebas, Barcelona "did not have, on December 31, 2024, nor on January 3, 2025, nor since that date, nor does it have today, the balance or registration capacity, known publicly as 'fair play', to register players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor."
Nevertheless, on Thursday, the CSD thwarted LaLiga's attempt to revoke the licenses of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Both players now have the green light to fulfill their contracts with the Catalan entity, even though the financial 'fair play' that LaLiga considers crucial for safeguarding the economic sustainability of clubs is questioned. On Thursday, LaLiga agreed to raise Barcelona's salary cap after receiving the auditor's certificate accounting for the 100 million euros in revenue from the sale of VIP boxes in the entity's profit and loss account for the current season.
