Selection of Specialized Health Training placements, a process that includes the MIR, can now be conducted both in-person and online starting from this year's call. This change marks the end of a measure implemented exceptionally after the pandemic, which only allowed electronic selection of placements.
This measure is one of the main updates in the process following the approval by the Council of Ministers of an amendment to Royal Decree 589/2022, dated 19 July. According to the Government, the measure "responds to social demand and the debate generated" around the changes applied after the pandemic. The new regulation will also allow each call to establish the selection mode, "thus offering greater flexibility to the candidates", explains the Ministry of Health.
In addition to the changes in the system of selection and allocation of placements, there are also changes in the management of resulting vacancies, introducing the possibility of a second round of allocation to ensure these are filled. This second round will be exclusively electronic and will be implemented from the 2025 call for access in 2026.
The Executive explains that for the processing of the regulation, consultations were held with the autonomous communities and the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, as well as with various general councils of professional colleges in the health sector. The report of the Human Resources Commission of the National Health System, the National Council of Specialties in Health Sciences, and the Interterritorial Council of the National Health System were also considered.
