The University of Alicante has been recognised for the second consecutive year as one of the most transparent public universities in Spain, according to the Haz Foundation report. With a 98% compliance rate, the UA ranks among the leading group alongside six other institutions, excelling in key areas such as economic information, governance structure, and academic results, as stated by the institution in a press release.
The Vice-Rector for Studies, Quality, and Languages, Francisco Torres, noted that these results are the fruit of the University of Alicante's commitment to transparency and accountability. "This result is an acknowledgment from an independent entity of the good work being done at the University in terms of transparency and accountability. As a public university, it is our duty to provide timely and updated information on everything that affects teaching, research, and management," he affirms.

The report highlights the evolution of the University of Alicante in transparency. Since 2019, the UA has significantly increased its score, establishing itself as a national reference in institutional transparency. This year, the inclusion of new indicators related to ethics and compliance has raised the analysis's demands, but the UA has managed to maintain its prominent position, achieving full compliance in 30 of the 31 evaluated sections.
Among the strengths of the analysis, the University of Alicante excels in the detailed publication of its economic information, with full compliance in indicators such as the budget, financial statements, and annual accounts report. Additionally, the UA has shown notable progress in areas such as student satisfaction, employability, and research results, essential indicators for measuring the impact of its activities on the community.
"The promptness and transparency with which the decisions of the governing bodies, such as the Governing Council, are communicated, whose agreements are published immediately after their meeting," adds Torres.
The Haz Foundation has also highlighted the UA's efforts in meeting new indicators related to ethics and transparency in the Social Council, an area where challenges still exist at the national level. Despite initial difficulties, the UA has implemented innovative mechanisms such as an ethical channel and a code of good governance, thus reinforcing its commitment to institutional integrity.
