The Alicante City Council, through the Department of Heritage, has set a new deadline for the 'hippies' of the Explanada to permanently remove the stalls from the promenade. They have five days to do so by their own means. Otherwise, municipal services will be responsible for the eviction.

The traders of the Explanada have kept the stalls standing after the moratorium applied by the City Council, which ended on January 31. They have done so as a protest to secure a relocation. The 'hippies' ceased sales in mid-January and demand, every Sunday, to resume until the end of 2026 or, alternatively, to have a new location in the municipality.

However, the Councillor for Heritage has notified, through an edict accessed by TodoAlicante, the stall owners of the 'hippies' of the Explanada to urge them to remove them, along with any other elements that improperly obstruct the promenade, within five days.

Furthermore, the document states that "in case of non-compliance, eviction will proceed through administrative launch." This is scheduled for 7 a.m. on February 24 and will have an initial cost of 33,261.99 euros - 1,038.43 euros per stall - which must be paid by the owners.

The requirement details that the value of the execution and deposit actions of the stalls also includes "the costs of floor replacement," which may be claimed from the stall owners of the 'hippies' of the Explanada.

In the event that the vendors refuse to cover these costs, the City Council could hold in deposit "those goods in sufficient quantity to cover the generated expenses"; while the rest - those "lacking economic or functional value" - may be considered "waste" and proceed to their treatment. The same would happen with the stalls, whose remains will be considered as waste.

In the event of reaching this situation of eviction through administrative launch, the agents of the Local Police of Alicante would draw up reports detailing the present goods in addition to safeguarding the collected effects, while the Infrastructure Service would proceed with the total dismantling. The Cleaning and Waste Collection Service would also participate, for "proper management."
