A 45-year-old Ukrainian fled his country's justice system after being sentenced to ten years in prison for document forgery offences. Ukraine issued an International Arrest Warrant (IAW) to bring the fugitive back. Investigations suggested he might be hiding in the province of Alicante.
The National Police began their inquiries and soon located him. He was hiding in Dénia. After setting up a police operation, he was arrested. Following his arrest, he was brought before the Central Court of Instruction of the National Court, the body responsible for processing his extradition, according to the Police.
The offences were committed between 2019 and 2022, with the detainee being part of an organised group dedicated to the forgery and sale of official documents.
