The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands has suspended the agreement of the Government of the Canary Islands from last September 2, which prevented NGOs from receiving unaccompanied migrant minors arriving irregularly to the Islands without prior knowledge and authorization from the regional Executive.

This was reported this Thursday by the TSJC, which adds that Section II of the Administrative Litigation Chamber, based in Las Palmas, has thus accepted the extremely provisional precautionary measure requested by the Spanish Network for Immigration and Refugee Assistance.

The Canary Islands Government's agreement instructed collaborating entities not to receive new migrants at the expense of the Autonomous Community unless there was prior communication of compliance or express authorization from the competent regional authorities.

All this, continued the regional Executive, in order to protect the interest of unaccompanied migrant minors already being cared for.
