Acció Cultural will hold its Festa d'Estiu in Alicante on June 12th. From 7 PM, the University Venue of Alicante (Av. Ramón y Cajal, 4) will become the centre of a tribute to the writer and collector of folk tales, Joaquim Gonzàlez i Caturla.
The event will feature contributions from prominent figures in the Valencian cultural and academic fields: Marinela García, Professor of Catalan Philology; Lliris Picó, writer and secretary of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans in Alicante; and Joan Borja, director of the Enric Valor Chair and professor at the University of Alicante.
During the celebration, a special tribute will be paid to Joaquim Gonzàlez i Caturla, a Professor of Language and Literature, writer, and one of the main collectors of Valencian folk tales in the southern regions, following the legacy of writer Enric Valor. His interest in Valencian oral literature in the 1980s led him to publish titles such as 'Rondalles de l'Alacantí' (1985) and 'Rondalles del Baix Vinalopó' (1987). His career has been recognised with awards such as the Enric Valor Narrative Prize, the Critics' Prize of Valencian Writers, and the Antoni Bru Narrative Prize, within the Ciutat d'Elx Literary Awards in 2009.
The event will also include a review of the most notable activities carried out throughout the course. It will be a day dedicated to culture, reflection, and recognition, open to all citizens.
