The program of the Mario Benedetti Center for Literary Studies (CeMaB) at the University of Alicante is filled with 'emotion'. The organization has arranged an international congress on the relationship between literature and art to honor Professor José Carlos Rovira, its first director.
The current director of CeMaB, Beatriz Aracil, expressed being "very proud" to present such a significant event. Under the title 'Ut pictura poesis. Literature and Art in the Ibero-American Context', they will celebrate the retirement of the emeritus professor from UA, highlighting one of his research lines.
The congress will take place from November 6 to 8 at CeMaB and the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, where nearly a hundred researchers will gather from Europe, Latin America, and Asia. Additionally, two parallel activities have been organized to continue honoring Rovira.
On one hand, the poetic-musical recital 'These Poets Are Mine' by guitarist Joe Ott - a graduate of the UA's Master's in Classical Guitar - along with members of CeMaB is scheduled for November 6. On the other hand, a new recital by Chilean poet Raúl Zurita on November 7.
After unveiling the content of this tribute congress to the emeritus professor, Beatriz Aracil outlined CeMaB's activities for this semester, emphasizing the authors who will visit its facilities. Among them are Mexican Cecilia Eudave, Argentine Ema Wolf, and Jaén-born Erika Martínez, who will inaugurate Women's Writer Week.
