A train carrying hazardous goods derailed this Thursday between the towns of Baides and Matillas in Guadalajara. This incident forced a complete halt of railway traffic on the conventional Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona line in both directions. This line is usually used by freight and regional passenger trains. It was also necessary to stop traffic on the local road Gu-157 due to debris from the derailed train on the roadway.

The convoy, consisting of 30 wagons, partially derailed due to the dislodging of several axles, affecting three wagons. The train was transporting liquid argon, but no leakage of the cargo was recorded. Workers from the Railway Infrastructure Administrator (ADIF) worked throughout Thursday morning to clear the tracks and resume train services.

According to RENFE, this accident, which resulted in no injuries, led to the cancellation of three medium-distance trains. Passengers bound for Soria, Sigüenza (Guadalajara), and Zaragoza were transported via an alternative plan using buses provided by the company. Civil Guard officers, firefighters from Sigüenza, who confirmed the absence of hazardous goods leaks, ADIF officials, and road maintenance personnel also attended the scene.
