Benidorm, a leisure hotspot for Britons in the province of Alicante, was shrouded in tragedy with the untimely demise of Oliver Holroyd. This young man from the British Isles passed away in the Alicante city on March 22 after accidentally hitting his head as a result of a fall while enjoying drinks at a bar, according to ABC newspaper.
The story takes on a more tragic hue as the young man, who was not yet thirty, had a child and was celebrating his bachelor party ahead of his imminent wedding with his fiancée, scheduled for next May.
The real cause of death remains unclear. It is known that Oliver fell from a stool, but - according to ABC - while some British media suggested the death might have been caused by a heart attack, some friends of the victim indicate he died from a brain haemorrhage.
In statements to the British press, the manager of the Benidorm pub where Oliver died assures that several people tried to revive him with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) until paramedics arrived, who fought for over an hour to save him. It seems they administered an adrenaline injection and connected him to a machine, but they could do nothing to save his life, the publican acknowledged.
