Traffic Disruptions in Alicante and Bus Route Changes Due to Town Hall Square Closure

Town Hall Square in Alicante will be closed to traffic during the evenings of the first week of July. The 'Brass Summer Festival' will turn the area pedestrian-friendly, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy free concerts.

Traffic disruptions in Town Hall Square and Rafael Altamira Street will commence this Wednesday, July 2, from 8 PM to 11 PM. These will continue until Saturday, July 5, when the final free concert will take place.

Additionally, the Alicante Town Hall announces parking bans on Rafael Altamira Street from 7 PM this Wednesday until 11 PM on Saturday, July 5, due to the concerts in the square.

This new traffic closure in Alicante also brings changes and diversions to five bus lines (02, 05, 12, 21, and 22), affecting their routes and stops during the evenings from July 2 to 5.

For line 02, the diversion will affect the route from the Sagrada Familia neighbourhoods to La Florida, as it passes through the city centre. This bus will travel along Mártires de la Libertad Avenue to Ramón y Cajal, where it will enter the urban area.

As a result, Alicante's line 02 bus will lose its stops on Rambla de Méndez Núñez and Alfonso El Sabio Avenue during the concerts, from 8 PM until the end of service.

In this regard, temporary bus stops are set up on the Explanada promenade - at the intersection with the Rambla - and at Ramón y Cajal 4.

This bus line will continue its journey along Doctor Gadea promenade until it reaches Luceros Square, where it has a stop, and will then descend to continue its usual route towards La Florida via Pintor Lorenzo Casanova Street.

The traffic closure in Town Hall Square will also affect the routes of lines 05 (Puerta del Mar-San Agustín) and 12 (Puerta del Mar-San Blas-Juan Pablo II) of the Alicante bus, both at the end and start of their routes.

Both lose the final stretch towards El Postiguet Beach, where they culminate and start their journey at Puerta del Mar. Due to traffic disruptions, lines 05 and 12 will not leave Rambla de Méndez Núñez, where a provisional stop has been set up at the intersection with San Fernando Street.

Lines 21 and 22 in Alicante heading to San Juan Beach are also affected by the traffic closure in Town Hall Square. Both lose their routes through the city centre.

These two lines will not travel along Alfonso el Sabio Avenue (towards Óscar Esplá) or Teatro Street (heading to the beach area), but will instead take the route along Doctor Gadea promenade towards Mártires de la Libertad Avenue.

The provisional stops set up for these two Alicante bus lines are at Ramón y Cajal, 4; and at Mártires de la Libertad-Rambla while traffic disruptions in Town Hall Square continue due to the evening concerts.
