Alicante woke up this Thursday, June 19, the day of the Hogueras plantà, with two traffic accidents that caused congestion on two main arteries of a city already
overwhelmed by its official festivities.
The first was recorded early, around eight in the morning, on
Dénia Avenue, heading towards Alicante. The accident involved several vehicles, causing significant congestion on the main artery. The traffic jams lasted for nearly an hour, complicating access to workplaces. The Civil Guard deployed several patrols to direct traffic, according to witnesses.
Soon after, a motorcyclist suffered an
accident on Elche Avenue, near the Panoramis business center, also causing long queues. A Basic Life Support (SVB) unit attended the injured at the scene, and Alicante Local Police officers regulated traffic.
Tragedy in Xàbia
The two accidents occurred a day after the
terrible traffic accident in Xàbia in which a 17-year-old motorcyclist died, causing great consternation in the Alicante municipality during the Fogueres de Sant Joan festivities. The young man lost his life while returning home on a moped in the early hours, after attending the night bullfighting events, according to municipal sources.
The accident occurred on the CV-734 road from Xàbia to Gata de Gorgos. The young R. S. M., for reasons still unknown, veered off the road and crashed into the guardrail.
