TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has unveiled the GR LH2 Racing Concept, a conceptual racing vehicle powered by liquid hydrogen (LH2). Its public debut took place today at the Circuit de la Sarthe, where it is displayed at the H2 Village of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest, coinciding with the 93rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (from June 14 to 15).

This innovative prototype underscores Toyota's commitment to a carbon-neutral society, using competitive motorsport as a rigorous testing ground. The brand has been actively developing hydrogen engines in competitive environments, such as the Japanese Super Taikyu series, where the hydrogen-powered Corolla has evolved from using gaseous hydrogen (2021) to liquid (2023).

The GR LH2 Racing Concept is based on the GR010 HYBRID Hypercar, which currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Its development intensifies Toyota's efforts to expand the production, transportation, and use of hydrogen, in collaboration with partners both within and outside the automotive industry.

Through future track tests, this prototype will not only support the ongoing development of hydrogen technology and infrastructure but also help strengthen relationships that expand the possibilities of this fuel.

40th Anniversary at Le Mans: Tradition and Future United

The presentation of the GR LH2 Racing Concept is part of a special event celebrating the 40th anniversary of Toyota's first participation in Le Mans. To commemorate this date, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has brought historical models and adorned its current GR010 HYBRID with unique decorations.

One of them is the GR010 HYBRID #7, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries, featuring a red and white livery in homage to the iconic TS020 of 1998.

Also present is the GR010 HYBRID #8, with Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa at the wheel, showcasing a matte black design centred on the GR logo, symbolising the team's determination and current spirit to create ever-better vehicles.

With these moves, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing aims to pay tribute to its history and commitment to innovation in one of the world's most iconic endurance races.
