Calp Town Hall has signed an agreement with the Directorate General of Police to install an Update Point for Documentation (PAD) on the ground floor of the town hall. This device allows for the renewal of electronic certificates and the change of access keys to electronic certificates.
Until now, renewing the digital certificate required traveling to the Police Station in Dénia or Benidorm, according to the Town Hall. Although the ID card is renewed every five or ten years depending on age, the digital certificate associated with the ID expires every three years, necessitating travel for its renewal.
The PAD consists of a terminal equipped with a touch screen and keyboard to quickly renew ID keys without needing to travel. At this Update Point for Documentation, users can renew their ID certificates and modify access data for electronic certificates.
For the renewal of electronic certificates, the physical presence of the document holder is required, and identity verification is done through reading the electronic ID card and biometric templates (fingerprints) captured during the ID issuance process. This allows the holder to autonomously initiate the renewal procedure for their electronic certificates or change the access password.
They can also be used by people with reduced mobility, as the height can be adjusted. Their use is completely free and does not require an appointment, allowing access through the electronic ID card (physical card) and a fingerprint reader.
