Tourists and Locals Join Forces to Clean Calp Beaches

Tourists and locals have joined efforts to clean the beaches of Calp. The ESTIMAR Hotels chain has spearheaded this cleaning day, in collaboration with the Calpe Town Hall and the Social Gravity Wave company. The action has also brought together various actors from the local tourism sector.

During the day, the councillors of Environment and Tourism of Calpe highlighted the town's commitment to "Tourism YES, but sustainable", in line with its strategy to establish itself as an increasingly conscious and environmentally respectful tourist destination.

For its part, Gravity Wave, a company with which ESTIMAR has been actively collaborating for three years, coordinated the cleaning day. In those three years of collaboration, nearly 18 tonnes of plastic have been extracted from the sea. As part of its involvement in such initiatives, ESTIMAR Hotels raffled two nights' stay at the ESTIMAR Calpe Suitopia hotel among the volunteers.

The day also included a plastic recycling workshop for children and an educational exhibition on the importance of posidonia for the marine ecosystem. The initiative was part of the activities organised around World Oceans Day, thus deepening social awareness and consciousness about marine environment protection.
