Tourism to Promote the Region as a Golf Destination at Europe's Leading Professional Fair

Tourism aims to attract more golfers to the Costa Blanca and the region. It is a veritable goldmine for the local tourism sector. A report by the Alicante Chamber of Commerce reveals that 70% of all golf tourists in the area are international. This demographic stays 2.4 days longer than the traditional tourist and spends up to 30% more daily, contributing to a total expenditure 60% higher.

This is why the Department of Tourism is committed to establishing the region as a leading destination for golfers. With 30 courses spread across the area, the Generalitat will promote the Costa Blanca and other parts of the region at the IAGTO European Convention 2025, held at the ExpoMeloneras venue in Gran Canaria from May 19 to 21.

This is Europe's most significant professional golf event, organized by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). It brings together destinations and golf service providers (resorts, hotels, and courses) with agents from golf tour operators who are members of the association for workshop-style business meetings.

During these days, Tourism has scheduled up to 30 professional meetings with key golf tourism operators to consolidate the destination in traditional markets and attract new strategic operators who have yet to market the Valencian offer.

The goal is to strengthen the promotion of the Valencian Community as a golf destination, solidifying the destination among operators who already offer it to their clients and attracting those who do not yet work with our region. These agents come from the world's main source markets and are accredited members of the IAGTO association.

The fair is expected to gather around 800 delegates, including tour operators, specialized agencies, and golf-related tourism providers. The event is exclusively for professional members of the association, the most prominent in the field of golf tourism.
