La Conselleria de Turisme has redirected the budget of the European Union's Next Generation funds to support companies affected by the DANA in Valencia. Originally, these European aids were intended for energy efficiency, but with this change, they will focus on the needs of tourist areas affected by the flood.

Turisme has amended the resolution of these aids so that they can be requested for purchases or investments in tourist companies and accommodations in areas affected by the floods. This allocation had a budget of €21 million.

The head of the department, Marián Cano, emphasized that the effects of last October have necessitated a "review of this aid call to adapt it to the new reality of tourist establishments located in the affected municipalities."

In this regard, Cano announced that 100% of the subsidy will be advanced "instead of a post-justification transfer." Meanwhile, the regional secretary of Tourism, José Manuel Camarero, explained the main changes introduced in the aid call for energy efficiency projects in tourist companies, such as those related to the technical reports that must be submitted by establishments located in municipalities affected by the DANA.

These changes "adapt to reality," explained Camarero, who recalls that the damages "have caused the disappearance of appliances, in addition to the impossibility of conducting energy efficiency audits comparing installations before and after the action."

Adjustments have also been made to simplify and make the document requirements more flexible in the application and justification phases. Thus, in the case of establishments located in municipalities affected by the DANA, it will not be necessary to provide justification for old installations and appliances, as these may have disappeared due to the floods.
