The heatwave affecting the Costa Blanca for over a week now does not seem to deter, but rather attract, tourists choosing the region as their ideal holiday destination. This is confirmed by the occupancy data released by the hotel association Hosbec, which, like the rising temperatures, show record figures at the start of summer.

The city of Benidorm once again proves to be the driving force of the tourism industry in the province of Alicante and the entire Valencian Community, closing June with an average occupancy rate of 89.5%, exceeding the figures from the same period in 2024 by more than two points.

Particularly impressive was the figure for the second half of June, when the tourist capital reached 90.5% occupancy, "demonstrating the destination's strength at the start of summer," according to Hosbec.

This trend is supported by the balance between national and international tourism, with a slight advantage for the British market, which accounts for 41.7% of stays in the second half of the month, closely followed by the national market at 39.6%. Portugal (4.9%) and Ireland (2.3%) complete the group of the most significant markets, alongside Belgium and the Netherlands.

Hotel bookings indicate that for the first half of July, occupancy is already at 87.2%, confirming that Benidorm enters the heart of summer with its tourism engine running at full capacity and solid prospects for maintaining leadership on the Mediterranean coast.

Expanding the focus to the rest of the Costa Blanca, the reality does not differ much from its flagship, with the region closing a successful June with an average occupancy rate of 82.5%, more than four points higher than the same period in 2024, when it recorded 81.3%.

As in Benidorm, the province of Alicante recorded its best figures in the second half of the month, with 84.4% of its rooms occupied, thanks to the boost from the national market, which accounts for 56.1% of the total, and the constant support from major international markets. The United Kingdom (14.7%) remains the leading foreign source, with Belgium (3.6%), the Netherlands (3.4%), Norway, and Ireland (both above 2.5%) completing a diverse and loyal European market.
