Everything is in turmoil with immigration; that's what we are experiencing because we don't know exactly what to do and how to do it. When I say this, I mean that immigration is not seen as a contribution to Spain's economic and cultural growth. Before continuing, I want to make my stance clear: Immigration, yes! Without a doubt. However, as in any field, it should come with clear and concise regulations and meet the requirements we desire to avoid endless conflicts. The foreign population stands at 6.6 million residents in 2024, according to the National Statistics Institute.
We must set aside sentimentalism; we need to be pragmatic and discard sentimental arguments. If we do not approach it this way, we will be doomed to permanent conflicts or end up with what are called "zero zones," areas where the State and our culture have disappeared. There are several examples of this in various countries within and outside the European Union, such as France, Belgium, Great Britain, etc. Two recurring arguments exist. The first is a matter of humanity; if so, let's help at the source to avoid uncontrolled entries. Secondly, we were also immigrants once; true, although we were Europeans back then, it was pejoratively said that Africa began at the Pyrenees.
