Torrevieja's Board of Spokespersons has unanimously agreed to award communicator Francisco Reyes Prieto Pérez the recognition as Local Media Professional 2024, marking the third edition of this honour. Previous recipients were Yolanda Álvarez Amorós (Televisión Torrevieja - TVT) and Iñaki Isidro Sánchez (Onda Azul Torrevieja).
Francisco Reyes Prieto Pérez was born in Torrevieja on January 4, 1967. While still at Colegio Cuba, he began collaborating with the weekly Vista Alegre, and in 1978, he published his first interview with the Spanish Chess Champion, held at the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja. From that moment, he became linked to the weekly, initially as a collaborator alongside names like Francisco Atienza, Emilio Sánchez Campillo, and Manuel Pamies. He later continued as an editor with Óscar Albaladejo and Ramón Sánchez Martos, and finally, since 2003, as the director.
In 1984, he was part of the founding team of Radio Mar Menor in Los Alcázares, alongside historical figures in Murcia's communication scene like Pascual García Mateos and Rafael de Los Ríos. He collaborated with various written media specialising in tourism as a member of the Provincial Tourism Promotion of the Costa Blanca.
In 1986, he joined Radio Orihuela's team, launching "Radio Estudio Torrevieja" during several summers and also hosted various special programmes and local news on Radio Orihuela.
In 1987, he joined the editorial team of Radio Cadena Española - RTVE - in Elche, both as a correspondent for Torrevieja and participating in various news segments and discussions. On November 15, 1987, he began writing news for Televisión Torrevieja, which started broadcasting that same day. Since then, he has been linked with TVT, leading major programmes such as "La Ventana", "En Directo", "Panorama", "Circulo de Actualidad", "El Ático", "Punto de Encuentro", "Aquí y Ahora", and currently "Noche de Reyes".
Between 1991 and 2006, he was a correspondent for the newspaper 'La Verdad de Alicante', later in the Orihuela edition, and finally creating the 'La Verdad Orihuela-Vega Baja-Torrevieja' edition.
For all these achievements, he has been deemed worthy of the recognition as Local Media Professional 2024. The award will be presented next Monday, January 27, at the traditional dinner organised by the local press for the presentation of the so-called "Rascasa" and "Salmonete" awards.
