Six new local police officers have now joined the workforce of Torrevieja City Council, a municipality with 108,000 registered residents that doubles its population during the summer months. The goal of the governing team, led by the popular Eduardo Dolón, is to have 200 active officers by the end of the current term in 2027, "a very important figure to provide all the services that the people of Torrevieja and the thousands of tourists who visit us each year deserve."
The mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón, confirmed this in front of the councillors of Personnel and Internal Affairs, María José Ruiz, and the head of Security and Emergencies, Federico Alarcón, during the swearing-in ceremony of the six officers and two other municipal workers, to whom he extended a warm welcome and encouraged to work with great dedication to continue improving the quality of municipal services in Torrevieja.
Specifically, the appointments include 6 local police officers (4 agents and 2 officers), a Green Team worker as a replacement, and a Chief Heritage Architect. Eduardo Dolón highlighted the financial effort being made by the Torrevieja City Council over the past few years to increase the number of police officers, in order to address the ever-growing needs in public safety that our city faces, which now has more than 108,000 registered residents in its municipal census.
