Sporting celebrations often leave lasting images, especially for the victors. Flags, scarves in the air, tears of joy, commemorative shirts, snapshots with family. Some transcend the barrier of sporting rivalry and remain in the collective memory. One such image is that of Xana - Luis Enrique's daughter who passed away in August 2019 due to osteosarcoma.
Throughout the season, Luis Enrique expressed his desire to dedicate the Champions League to his daughter, recalling the image of Xana planting a Barcelona flag on the pitch after the Berlin final. "I wish to do the same with Paris Saint-Germain. My daughter won't be there physically, but she will be there spiritually, and that is very important to me," he recalled last January.
The Asturian coach fulfilled his promise and after the final whistle at the Allianz Arena, he donned a t-shirt featuring a print of little Xana planting a flag on the field. But it wasn't the only tribute.
PSG fans situated in one of the stands of the Bavarian stadium began to unfurl a tifo depicting that moment in Berlin. In the image, Luis Enrique plants a flag with the French team's colours on the green, while a girl with the number 8 and the name Xana on her back watches on.
Xana siempre presente ❤️💙

Much more than winning a Champions League this Saturday at the Allianz Arena in Munich. Much more than making history with Paris Saint-Germain, to whom he has given their first European Cup. Luis Enrique has kept a promise.
