Alicante invites participation this May in talks, workshops, visits, and showcookings organised at the Municipal Consumer Resource Centre, focusing on our gastronomy with hospitality taking centre stage. This special event in the quarterly programme aims to bring our chefs closer and showcase the evolution of the city's dining scene.
Councillor for Hospitality and Commerce, Lidia López, encouraged attendance, highlighting that "it's an opportunity to enjoy showcookings and visit our Alicante restaurants to see how they operate," while also emphasising "the exceptional quality of our gastronomy, hospitality, and chefs, representing a thriving sector as we celebrate being the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy this year."
On Monday, 5th May, a red tuna showcooking will take place, featuring a lecture and tasting titled 'Denominations of Tuna, Parts, and Techniques of Raw and Cooked Preparations', presented by chef and culinary educator Hervé Medina, starting at 10:30 AM. Interested individuals can register for the activities by calling 965145294 or emailing cerca@alicante.es.
Additionally, from 7th to 15th May, three visits to Alicante restaurants Vine, Gema Penalva, and Plaza Canalla are scheduled to provide first-hand insight into their operations, from reservation handling to menu preparation.
The Councillor for Hospitality noted that "these visits offer insight into our hospitality sector and provide a unique and close experience to understand restaurant operations and their daily routines."
The talk titled 'Flavour and Evolution: Alicante's Dining Scene at Its Best' will be delivered by ARA President Gabriela Córdoba and Gastrouni Business School Director Óscar Carrión on 15th May at 11 AM at the Cerca facilities. This event will share with attendees the present and future of dining, its growth, evolution, innovation, and professionalisation.
The Cerca has focused in May on bringing gastronomy closer within its facilities, noted Councillor Lidia López, to "rediscover our hospitality, introduce our chefs and the cuisine of the Terreta, and hold special activities this year as we celebrate Alicante's gastronomic capital status."
